Chiropractic
Chiropractic care focuses on restoring and maintaining the health of your joints, muscles and nerves through the use of an adjustment. A spinal adjustment can relieve pain, restore normal movement, and stimulate higher function of your nervous system.
Dr. Eve Choe is trained in many techniques, but specializes in gentle adjustments (e.g. Activator and Thompson techniques) and gentle soft tissue treatment. Visits are relaxing, gentle and effective.
Treatment includes soft tissue treatment, joint mobilization and gentle chiropractic adjustments.
Acupuncture - TCM
Billed under Acupuncture benefits on your insurance. Safe and effective, acupuncture is used to encourage natural healing, improve mood and energy, reduce or relieve pain and improve function of affected areas of the body.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the body is viewed as a delicate balance of two opposing forces: the yin and the yang. Optimal health is achieved when the body is in a balanced state, while disease is the result of an internal imbalance of yin and yang. Another important concept is that Qi (pronounced "chee"), an energy that is believed to exist in nature and in the human body, must be sufficient, in balance and free-flowing within the body. In TCM, acupuncture is used to stimulate points to correct imbalance, and attain optimal balance.
Treatment includes a mix of various modalities such as needling, cupping, tuina massage.
Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture
Cosmetic acupuncture or facial rejuvenation acupuncture is a non-surgical method of reducing the signs of aging, without injections or drugs, and with minimal unwanted side effects. It is called rejuvenation, because it is more than a cosmetic procedure - it is a rejuvenation and revitalization process designed to make the whole body look and feel younger. Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is based on the principle of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Many meridians either begin or end on the face while some have internal branches that go to the face. Thus, practitioners of facial rejuvenation acupuncture know how to specifically affect the face while simultaneously treating the underlying factors that contribute to the aging process.
Facial rejuvenation acupuncture involves the superficial insertion of hair-thin needles, which stimulates both blood and energy to the face, thereby nourishing and moistening the skin. It also increases collagen production, which fills out fine lines and wrinkles, and gives firmness to the skin, producing a healthy complexion.
Registered Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is a comprehensive intervention involving a range of techniques to manipulate the soft tissues and joints of the body. The purpose of massage therapy is to prevent, develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain. It is a clinically-oriented health option that achieves results in the relief of an array of discomforts stemming from stress, muscular overuse and many chronic pain syndromes.
Tuina Massage
Tuina massage is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that addresses patterns of disharmony in the body through improving the overall Qi energy flow throughout the body. Tuina works by applying pressure to acupoints, meridians, and groups of muscles or nerves to free the flow of Qi energy throughout the body. This allows the body to naturally heal itself and leads to improved overall health and vitality.
Medical Acupuncture
Medical Acupuncture is provided by Dr. Eve Choe. Depending on your insurance policy, this service may be billed under Acupuncture benefits, but is more often billed under Chiropractic benefits.
Medical acupuncture is a modern treatment approach founded in concepts of neurology, anatomy and physiology. While the same needles and points are used as in traditional acupuncture, points needled are anatomically and neurologically connected to your specific source of pain. Medical acupuncture has been shown to have beneficial results by inducing muscle relaxation, modulating pain, altering your neuroendocrine responses and changing your autonomic activity (fight or flight response) resulting in an overall relaxation and a feeling of well-being. Various studies have proven that acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins, which are the body’s natural pain-relieving neurohormones. Acupuncture affects the functioning of the hormonal system, promotes a decrease in inflammation, increases circulation and provides relief from pain.
Orthotics
Custom-foot orthotics look like insoles, but are biomechanical medical appliances that are made to specifically correct your foot imbalance. They work on your feet much like glasses work on your eyes - they reduce stress and strain on your body by bringing your feet back into proper alignment. They slip comfortably into your shoes and exert gentle pressure on your feet to bring them into the correct position for walking, running and standing.
